The same face every time.

Bracken & Blade is Albert Coleman, working out of Exeter. The person who quotes your job is the person who does it.

Who runs it

Alba.

Alba came out of the forces and has spent the time since working outdoors and on the tools. Grounds work suits him: it is physical, it is finished at the end of the day, and you can see whether it was done properly.

He is set up for domestic gardens, small commercial grounds and one off clearances, on his own or with a second pair of hands when the job needs it.

How we work

Four things we hold to.

You get the price first

Nothing starts before you have agreed a number. If we open something up and find more than expected, we stop and tell you rather than adding it to the bill.

We turn up when we said

You get a day and a start time. If the weather or a job before yours moves it, you hear that morning.

The site is left clean

Swept, gates shut, nothing left in a heap for you to deal with at the weekend.

We say what we cannot do

There is work we are not set up for. We will tell you and point you at someone who is, rather than have a go at it.

The name

Bracken and blade.

Bracken is what grows back across a Devon hillside the moment nobody is watching. The blade is what deals with it.

That is most of this work: staying on top of something that never entirely stops, and knowing when to cut it back hard.

Working with us Regular rounds are booked ahead for the season. One off work is usually booked within a week or two, sooner for a small job.

Tell us what needs doing.

Send a couple of photos and a line about the job. We will come back with a price. If it is a bigger clearance we will come and look first.
