Grass cutting in Exeter.
Weekly or fortnightly cuts across the city, on the same day each time so you can plan around it.
Grass cutting in Exeter
Most Exeter lawns fall into one of a few shapes. Long narrow strips behind the Victorian terraces in St Leonard's and Newtown, where the mower comes through the house or down a side passage and the clippings go back out the same way. Square back lawns on the thirties and post-war semis through Heavitree, Pinhoe and St Thomas, which are the easiest to hold on a regular round. And sloping ground up Pennsylvania and Stoke Hill, which takes longer than the square footage suggests and wants a machine that can hold a line across a gradient.
A regular round means the same day each visit through the growing season, roughly March to October depending on the year. Edges strimmed, borders kept off the grass, clippings lifted and taken away rather than left in a heap behind the shed. Gates shut behind us.
If the lawn has got away from you (knee high, gone to seed), that is a first cut rather than a round. It comes down in stages so the grass underneath survives it, gets raked off, and then it can go onto a normal schedule afterwards.
Common questions
Grass cutting in Exeter: common questions.
How often should the grass be cut in Exeter?
Fortnightly suits most gardens through the season. Weekly if you want it sharp, or if the lawn is fed and growing hard in May and June. We will tell you which yours actually needs rather than selling you the bigger number.
Do you take the clippings away?
Yes, as standard. They go with us rather than being bagged up and left.
What happens if it rains on my day?
You hear from us that morning. Wet grass cuts badly and makes a mess of the lawn, so we would rather move you than do a poor job for the sake of the schedule.
